Iedereen kent natuurlijk de Happy Meals van McDonalds wel. Een fast-food maaltijd voor de kids waarbij altijd een klein speelgoedje zit. Vaak zijn dit figuurtjes uit een tekenfilm, maar vanaf begin deze maand heeft McDonalds in de Verenigde Staten, kleine Hummers in de Happy Meals gestopt. In totaal zullen 42 miljoen miniatuur Hummertjes hun weg vinden naar de Amerikaanse kiddo’s.

Dit is behoorlijk tegen het zere been van heel veel milieu bewuste Amerikanen en milieu-organisaties (jawel, die hebben ze daar ook). De Hummers moeten uit de Happy Meals verbannen worden, want ze zouden de jeugd het verkeerde voorbeeld geven en wel om de volgende 5 redenen:

1. Hummers emit high levels of smog-forming chemicals that cause or worsen asthma, which hits hardest among children.
2. Hummers are the worst example of the lack of commitment to cleaner and more efficient vehicles by General Motors and other American automakers.
3. Hummers spew the pollution that causes global warming, contributing to killer heat waves and hurricanes.
4. Hummers are gas guzzlers, helping keep America dependent on oil from the Middle East and threatened by the region’s extremist politics.
5. At current gas prices, filling up a Hummer H2 costs almost $100 — money parents could spend on healthier food for their kids.

De Happy Meal Hummers houden de gemoederen in ieder geval goed bezig. De site hybridcars.com heeft zelfs de moeite genomen om een parodie-site op te zetten waar mensen hun eigen McDonalds reclamebord kunnen maken, om de burgergigant af te zeiken. Zoals je ziet heb ik ook maar eens zo’n reclamebord gemaakt. Begrijp mij niet verkeerd, want ik ben ook voor een beter milieu, maar laat die “treehuggers” toch hun energie steken in de echte bron van het probleem en zijn niet de speelgoedautootjes van McDonalds (via: autoblog.com en treehugger.com).

vreemd er is er nog 1 in nederland te koop, en die kost toch echt minder dan 40.000 euro

dit is wel het totaal pakket, in UK is een auto nu 1maal duurder dan in belgie en nederland. Kooi, blussysteem, digital zijn allemaal in de prijs inbegrepen en waarschijnlijk op de extra onderdelen de VAT bijgerekent.

(in belgië kost een clio RS net geen 30.000, full option pakket)

deze zijn dus zonder btw, zwart dus verkocht ?
