Hello my friends,

I have renault 19 16v 1.8 F7P 1994 DOHC. I want to make a cable for this car to do chiptunning (read/write ECU). As I know there is in the fuse panel port (an old ODB) for diagnostic. I have an idea to get the 12 pin Connector Adapter ODB2 (this adapter i found on ebay) and get the ODB2 output.

So now we have an male ODB2 output.
As I know there is many cable supporting many cars, but I haven't found anything related to my renault 19 16v model. I know that I need an ODB2 female input cable with USB and box, or something who will recognize my renault model when I connect it to laptop.
there is what I found on ebay:

This is a scantool.
I wonder if this will fit to my model and I will be able to read write data? Theorically everything will fit my car port -> adapter -> scantool. But I dont know anything about the tool which connects to adapter and then by USB to laptop. Does anyone have such ideas how to make this? Or know something about this?

Sorry for my English.

There is some equipment available for you from fashchip.nl
There is and XRD available, that constantly monitors all your engine parameters. see for example http://www.mbcarperformance.com/catalog ... 0_690_1348
No programming of the ECU is possible with this device.

There is an R-tuner available from http://www.fastchip.nl that gives you the possibility to modify the settings of the ECU by means of a software package and your own laptop.

And then there are the famous dyno-meetings in Goes (in the Netherlands), where a personal mapping for your car can be done.

Personally I can say that there is not so much possible with a standard F7P engine. I drive with a Menno-chip (Menno is one of our members who knows a lot about ECU's). The max. rev limit is set higher approx. 7500 rpm and the enigine is a bit smoother. But don't expect 10 extra HP's or much more torque.

You can only read OBD info with that cable on your 19v.

I wonder if it is really OBD, but I used it very much for failure-seeking. Nice thing about these cars is you can read out sensor values without the use of multimeters, so you can pinpoint problems quite fast.

But no tuning.

Yeah I think so too that previous device would be nice for solving car problems.
But I wonder where to get or how to make that device/cable which can be used to read/write data, like RSTuner.
I don't know where computer code is (ECU). Does anybody know where that code is? I haven't tried to open ECU case. It's the same ECU on all R19 16v models? P.S. I have such a uniq R19 16v model with Air Conditioning and electric power steering that everyone in the car services pulls up the head!

The devices like XRD and R-tuner are made by http://www.fastchip.nl in Holland. They also supply there equiment in the UK. Just contact them.
There are at least 3 different ECU for the R19 16V:
1. the 16S first models without lambdasensor, a potentiometer for setting the CO2 adjustment and no start interruptor
2. the 16v models like the phase 1 with cat convertor and lamdasensor and no start interruptor
3. the 16v models like the phase 2 with cat convertor and lamdasensor and start interruptor.

I think you will have the last one

Yeah. I have ordered an adapter with ODB2 output and ECU flasher. We'll see what we make or no.

It's not going to work with that cable :)
That OBD2 flasher can still be used for other newer cars, but not the siemens fenix ecu's.

If you like to remap the oem 19 16V ecu, you should buy an eprom programmer, desolder the original 27C256 chip, read it, modify it, and reprogram it in an eprom. Otherwise it's not gonna work. Then still you need to know which data needs to be modified, and how. Especially that last part can be tough if you don't know exactly what you ar doing.

The best option would still be to buy the r-tuner indeed.

Well, thanks. Still waiting cables to arrive. I'll try my best to make something more than diagnostics with my fireball. Got the schemes, we'll see. Any news I'll post here later.
