i got a spare complete f7p engine doing nothing
and i want to put this into the renault 9 i have.
compared the engine and gearbox mounts on my
19 16v today and they look quite different to the ones
on the r9 (1.7 gtx F2N)

whats the crack with the engine mounts though ??Menno schreef:Not too difficult. Go for it !
i dont want the power steering at all to be honest .Riël schreef:f2n mounts, try mounting them on your f7p engine. I am quite sure the engine fits perfect onto your R9 then. IN the worst case, u need to play around with powersteering and dynamo brackets.
i suppose it is better to find and use a 19/clio 16v subframeSteven schreef:You should measure the mountingpoints from the subframe of you're 9.
I had once the idea to put also an complete 19-16v engine with subframe under my 9. (also the idea of the pre
The mountingpoints from the 19-16v subframe are in the front are 82 cm from left tot right, the points in the rear 80cm en the distance between front and rear is about 81 cm's. Maybe you could something with it
Otherwise the engine wil fit easily on you're original subframe. It's al been done before.
good point thereSteven schreef:I did some global measuring on my 9, but there's a chance it wil fit.
You should try to measure it on you're own 9 more exactly to know for sure.
Then you could take everything attached to the subframe with it, like the triangles, brakes, wheelhubs etc. (including the powersteering).
And the swap is much easier
is this regarding my posts in the dutch 9/11 club or here ??Sven 5 A T (VLIEGTEUG) schreef:i think its an jc5
but why wont you put all the items of youre projeckt in one projeckt -topic ?
its much more easy to read
i did some measuring as well today .Steven schreef:I did some global measuring on my 9, but there's a chance it wil fit.

i did not measure the diagonal distances but as far as i can see under bothRiël schreef:WEll, all I can say is that probably the 19 subframe wil fit onto the 9 chassis
What is the diagonal distance of the bolt-holes?
schakal schreef:decided to put a f7p engine in the renault 9 now .
due to the renault 9 being a less popular car along the range
i cant find a lot of documentation on the net or elsewhere .
so i will raise the questions here ,
would appreciate any tips and help
from people thats done this sort of conversions before![]()
here is the gearbox (jb3)

and the engine to go on the car from renault 19 16v

now the main question i cant solve is about the electrics :?
am i going to be able to simply swap the engine and the engine loom
and be able to run ???
or does this conversion also involve swapping the whole
electric loom in the car (behind the dashboard )
which means getting the dashboard and all the plastic
trim off and replace them with the ones from a 16v
Steven schreef:Dude, plz stick to one topic.. is much easier for an overall look and much better for the forum.
For my swap i had taken the complete wiring loom behind the dashboard also the part to the fuelpump (in the gastank).
My idea was to figure the needed parts out and put it together to the original wiring loom or you can replace the complete wiring loom. Its much easier to sort out the electrix for the heater then for the ecu etc. The loom for you're lights and stuff is a different part.
For the fuelpump you can take easy the one from a 5 GT Turbo, its an external pump, which you can place next to the tank.
Suc6 mate
schakal schreef:sorry for the mess matey ,it looks like i am the only r9 owner left in this place .not much happening otherwise
steven , what car did you work on for the conversion ??
what loom did you use ??? r19 16v or clio 16v ??
now i got a dash loom from a clio 16v complete with both fuse boxes ,fuses relays , headlight connectors ,rear light connectors ,roof light ,instrument panel , heater etc etc connectors . plus many others that does not exist in the r9 .
do i just install the clio loom and cut the connectors that dont fit the
r9 equipment ?? i.e : heater connector
and than cut this connector from the r9 loom and attach it to the clio one ?
Steven schreef:If you stick to one topic with all you're 9-questions its much easier.
I had a 9 phase2 and i had a wrecked 19-16v, I had taken all the 19-parts that i thought need. Engine, subframe, all looms etc.
However i've trashed the 9 on the freeway in traffic jam, so its gone and i have sold the 19 stuff. I haven't got the chance to build in the engine.
The enginemounts from the 19-16v are also different from the clio. The clio engine is mounted on top of the engine, while the 19 engine complete stands on the subframe.
Maybe its easier for you to search a wrecked 19 and swap everything 1-to-1 over. including subframe alle wiring looms etc.
