My friend who works as an mechanic told me that the original GTE machine was devastated by previous owner so he put Volvo 440 engine in it, possibly 105 or 110 ks!

I have to check the engine out for some signs of it,cos I have to know what i have under the hood

I'll post some more pics these days, and the project will start. I'll focus on making the car as it was new, i will restore it and drive it old school just like in the good ol days (when i was 5 years old )

For as far as I know, it says VOLVO on the top of the engine, quite big... So that shouldn't be so hard to check!

THe mechanic said he put a Volvo engine (probably 440) 1.7 with 105 or 110 hp...

When i finish the car i'll go on rolling road to test it, so i can be 100% sure

So...where to start? any volvo tuner that can provide me camshaft for my engine?!

nice car... looks like i see my car wish U good luck with the 5 gte... be carefull with your stickers, u don't see often those stickers on the side of the car... but i have them also still on my car good luck and sent more pics... are 2 my email... i like it!!!

Maybe you can post a photo of the engine, so we can find out what kind of an engine it is!

Volvo got 2 types of engines with multipoint, not speaking about its turbo-engine...

a 1.7 with 95pk, just as Renault
and a 2.0 with 110pk. The engines look the same... so you have to check it by its enginenumber.

- bore & stroke are the same, capacity also...i think those are the same engines and one of them is used in my GTE

The engines look the same... so you have to check it by its enginenumber.

I'm sorry, I made a mistake, there's a visible difference between the 2 engines, the 2.0L has the same inlet (inlaatspruikstuk, don't know the english word ) as the turbo engine

but then the text on the inlet is; 'elektronic fuel injection' or 'Volvo 2.0 Litre injection'

Volvo has used the same engines in the 400 series...so they can still be the same.

Volvo used standard better exhaustmanifolds, and some sensors and wiring could be different, but the 1.7 mpi engines are the same.
